Pope Francis To Followers: “Koran And Holy Bible Are The Same”

On Monday the Bishop Of Rome addressed Catholic followers regarding the dire importance of exhibiting religious tolerance. During his hour-long speech, a smiling Pope Francis was quoted telling the Vatican’s guests that the Koran, and the spiritual teachings contained therein, are just as valid as the Holy Bible.

“Jesus Christ, Jehovah, Allah. These are all names employed to describe an entity that is distinctly the same across the world. For centuries, blood has been needlessly shed because of the desire to segregate our faiths. This, however, should be the very concept which unites us as people, as nations, and as a world bound by faith. Together, we can bring about an unprecedented age of peace, all we need to achieve such a state is respect each others beliefs, for we are all children of God regardless of the name we choose to address him by. We can accomplish miraculous things in the world by merging our faiths, and the time for such a movement is now. No longer shall we slaughter our neighbors over differences in reference to their God.”

The pontiff drew harsh criticisms in December after photos of the 78-year-old Catholic leader was released depicting Pope Francis kissing a Koran. The Muslim Holy Book was given to Francis during a meeting with Muslim leaders after a lengthy Muslim prayer held at the Vatican.

St. John Paul II has courted several controversies since being elected as Pope Benedicto XVI’s replacement in 2013. Francis has gone on record to say that homosexuals are not to be judged, Proselytism is nonsense and has endorsed the usage of contraceptive by Catholics.

The Vatican will meet again with Muslim leaders in late February where they plan to talk about further steps that can be taken to spread understanding and awareness of the Islamic religion.

One suggested scenario – Heaven is a warm sunny day on craft by a river with a couple (add race, sex, class, etc) making love and generally enjoying life among the birds, the bees and the other passengers and then they awaken. Eve ate an apple in her dream and Adam reaching for his rib is startled by something slithering away as he cries, “God damn it!”

1 John 4King James Version (KJV)

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

      • pamohamedameen says:

Muslims and Christians share many common beliefs, morals, principles and injunctions for their behaviour and conduct. But what is basically different between the two faiths is the nature and role of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Though Trinity is considered to be the basic belief of Christianity, it is not found in the Bible.

Pope Shenuda III of the Coptic Church says that the three persons in the Christian Trinity are fully equal; the Father equals the Son, equals the Holy Spirit.

There is no difference of separation.

They are also co-eternal” (Trinity and Unity by Pope Shenuda III, p. 10).

Thus God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit are identical as equal to each other.

But actually it is not so. Because we find that the Father is not the Son; the Son is not the Father; and the Holy Spirit is neither the Father nor the Son. Each person in the Trinity is a different and distinct entity with a different nature and different role.

The Holy Spirit was not God but Archangel Gabriel (Jibril).

Thus we find a difference between Christianity and Islam with regard to the nature and role of the Holy Spirit.

Christians believe that the Holy Spirit is God, the third person in the Trinity, while Muslims believe him as the most honourable angel responsible to bring down the divine message to the prophets of Allah.

There is no such thing as Jesus ” no evidence of any kind” no Jews…no Islam…
Just people..we are a blip in the scheme of time and soon we will be gone. If I am wrong we will find out when we are dead.

    • Mike says:

There’s proof that there was a man named Jesus, from Nazareth, who was crucified. That stuff is fact. There’s far more evidence for all this being real, then there is against it. I mean, Earth, for example, any more or less water, or air, we’d die, any further or closer to the sun, we’d die. Earth is created perfectly for life. That doesn’t just happen by random chance.

I’d rather believe, and it not be real, and lose nothing, then not believe, it be real, and lose it all.

    • Grumpypopeye says:

I would much rather believe in God and Jesus and find out I am wrong, then not believe and find out I am wrong. And your obviously very uneducated by the sheer fact that you say there is no evidence and no such thing as Jesus … a you are right tho..YOU will find out, and then it WILL be to late for you..bummer should that be the case..for YOU.

** . If any one confesses Christ Jesus the Lord, but denies the God of the Torah (law) and of the prophets, saying that the Father of Christ is not the Maker of heaven and earth, (this is Islam) he has not continued in the truth any more than his father the devil.

** This is from an Epistle Written to the Philippians (1.04.06 Chp 3)

      – He (Christ) was then truly born, truly grew up, truly ate and drank, was truly crucified, and died, and rose again. He who believes these things, as they really were, and as they really took place, is blessed. He who believeth them not is no less accursed than those who crucified the Lord.

For the prince of this world (Satan / Anti-Christ Spirit) rejoiceth when any one denies the cross, since he knows that the confession of the cross is his own destruction

Did Pope Francis really say the Koran and Bible are the same?

According to Fellowshipofminds: No where did Pope Francis mention the Koran. No where did he equate the Bible with the Koran. No where did he say Jesus and Allah are the same deity. Nor did Pope Francis kiss the Koran. READ MORE AT http://fellowshipoftheminds.com/2015/08/03/did-pope-francis-really-say-the-koran-and-bible-are-the-same/?blogsub=confirmed#blog_subscription-4

    • Daniel says:

The Vatican report just released the speech given by the Holy Father. But did not mention at all what he said and did besides the speech. Given that fact JP II kissed the evil book of Koran and Francis like JP II went to Assisi it is 99.9999% certain that all the media outlets did not lie together.

    • John says:

Before anything else, we have to remember the fact that the Pope of Rome is first a head of state; i.e., Vatican City, which is indeed a country on equal footing with any other political system of the world, and that the pope is also a master politician wielding a great deal of influence over worldly matters. The pope says one thing, but then does another. Could we expect anything different from one who is truly a politician? The pope seems to be more interested in ecumenism than proclaiming the truth of Apostolic Christianity that is clearly grounded in Sacred Scripture and the timeless witness of the Fathers of the Church. This is but one of many reasons why there will never be any reconciliation between the myriad forms of Western Christianities and Eastern Orthodoxy.

    • Frank says:

Thank you Doreen for pointing to the errors in this article, which is typical of “journalism” today. I mean, if you can’t even get basic facts like in the second last paragraph stating that St.John Paul II succeeded Benedict in 2013 when he in fact succeeded John Paul I in 1978. And to generalize statements on what Francis said about Proselytism, contraceptives and homosexuality without giving the full statements and context is mendacious.

God says in the Quran: And the Jews say,

“The Nazarenes (Christians) do not follow a (true) religion” and the Christians say, “The Jews do not follow a (true) religion;”

while they both study the (same) Book. Those who have no knowledge (Pagans), say the same about both. But God will judge their disputes between them on the Day of Judgeme
        Quran 2:113]

And indeed to Musa (Moses) We gave the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers after him. And to Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary),

We gave manifest Signs, and strengthened him with the Holy Spirit (the angel Gabriel).

Even so every time a Messenger came to you (O Children of Israel), with what your souls did not fancy, you always behaved arrogantly and denied some (messengers) and slew others?
        Quran 2:87]

And they (Jews and Christians) say: “None shall enter Paradise except they be Jews or Christians.” These are their own wishful fancies. Say (to them), “Bring forth

your proof, if you are truthful.” [Chapter 2:111]

The Jews say: “Uzayr (Ezra) is the son of God” and the Christians say: “the Messiah (Christ) is the son of God.” These are their statements from their (own) mouths.

They only imitate the assertions of those who disbelieved before (them). Allah’s curse be on them! How they are deluded (from the truth). [Chapter 9:30]

They have taken their priests and monks for Lords besides Allah. And (also) the Messiah, son of Mary. Though they were commanded to worship but the One God.

There is no God but He. Exalted is He, far above what they associate with Him! [Chapter 9:31]

They wish to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths (by uttering blasphemies); but Allah refuses but to perfect His light, even though the disbelievers may resent it. It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it prevail over every other religion, even though the disbelievers may resent it. [Chapter 9:32-33]

The Jews will never be pleased with you, nor the Christians, unless you follow their faith. Say, “Indeed guidance from Allah alone is the true guidance.” And if you were to follow their evil desires after the knowledge you have been given, you will find neither a guardian nor any helper to protect you from Allah. [Chapter 2:120]

And they say: “Become Jews or Christians, then you will be rightly guided.” Say, “Never, but we follow the faith of Ibraheem (Abraham), the upright one; he was not of polytheists.” [Chapter 2:135]

Say (O Muslims), “We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us (to Muhammad), in what was revealed to Ibraheem (Abraham) and Isma’el (Ishmael), and Is’haque (Isaac) and Ya’quob (Jacob) and his (twelve) children and in what was given to Musaa (Moses) and Isaa (Jesus), and what was given to all other

Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to
Allah we submit ourselves (in Islam).” [Chapter 2:136]

So if they submit like you have submitted, then they shall be rightly guided; but if they turn back, then they are but in a schism, and Allah will surely suffice you against them, for He is All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. [Chapter 2:137]

Say, “We have adopted the baptism (guidance) of Allah; and who is better than Allah in baptising? And we are worshipers of Him alone.” [Chapter 2:138]
Say (to Christians and Jews): “Would you dispute with us about Allah, while He is our God and your God? We are responsible for our deeds, and you for your deeds; and we are sincerely devoted to Him (alone).” [Chapter 2:139]

The Vatican Report states the Pope said: “the Muslims, who worship the one living and merciful God, and call upon Him in prayer.”

To me, that means the Muslims are worshiping the only real God, and the Gods of other religious are sham gods.

Muslims must believe Mohammad was the “perfect” man, and they must live their lives like Mohammad lived his life.Anyone who has read how Mohammad lived his life would be disgusted with him, and would conclude he was evil. He was deceptive until he had enough followers to become powerful. Then he destroyed all the non-believers he could destroy. His God was not a merciful God but a God of cruelty.

      • Sam says:

        Hey Richard,

This is interesting information provided, can you please send me the links/titles of the literature supporting this information regarding the Islamic prophet?

It would really benefit my research of the Islamic faith.

        • Jim says:

Christianity and orthodox Judaism believe that God (Yahweh) spoke through the authors of scripture such that these writings from men are, in fact, the word of God. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” 2 Timothy 3:16. Likewise Islam teaches that God through an angel spoke the Qur’an to Muhammad which was eventually written and is the exact word of Allah. All the comments above about traditions or interpretations of different groups or how they feel about their religions are irrelevant. Yahweh tells us in the Bible who He is. Allah tells us in the Qur’an who he is.

Christianity’s foundation is that a) Jesus is the Christ/Messiah, the savior/deliverer of Israel and the world. b) that Jesus is the Son of God, who with the Holy Spirit and the Father, (the Trinity) is God). c) That Jesus came in the flesh (God became man), was crucified, died, and rose from the dead.

Islam states that a) “They say: “The Most Gracious has begotten son! you have uttered a gross blasphemy. It is not befitting The Most Gracious that He should beget a son.” [Qur’an 19:88-92] “The Christians call Christ the son of Allah. … Allah’s curse be on them; how they are deluded away from the truth!!” [Qur’an 9:30] b) “They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah” [Qur’an 5:73] c) “They that said … “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah”; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, … for a surety they killed him not: Nay, Allah raised him up unto himself…” [Qur’an 4:157-8].

The Bible says: “..love your enemies, do good to those who hate you”(Matthew 5:44). The Qur’an says “terrorize and behead who those believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an” (sura 8:12). These are not the words of the same god. Islam at its core specifically denies the core beliefs of Christianity. No other world religion, Buddhism, Hinduism, Navaho, you name it, was specifically designed in the spirit of antichrist to refute the very claims of Jesus. The Pope would do well to read Revelation and see where he is leading his flock.

            Excellent remarks. Thank you.

          • pamohamedameen says:

Yusuf Estes a Christian convert to Islam has this to say –

Muslims do not seek to put down or desecrete the Holy Bible.

It is a matter critical matter of faith for Muslims to believe in the original revelations that came down to Moses, David, Solomon and Jesus, just as it is important for Muslims to believe in the revelation of the Quran that came to Muhammad,

The key word here however, is “original.” As we all know the origin of the Bible is clouded with centuries of copying, translating and passing down information, now long lost with only copies of manuscripts remaining to remind us of what once was the Bible.

Additionally, it should be noted that Muslims do not seek to destroy the Christians or Jews belief in the Word of God, rather it is an obligation for Muslims to call to what is right and to halt that which is evil.

Certainly, causing the “People of the Book” (as the Quran refers to Christians and Jews) to fall into disbelief and leave off any faith in God at all, is the very opposite of the direction Muslims should take in presenting any comparison between Islam and what has come down in the past from the Almighty God.

We only seek to bring about more light to the people seeking guidance and pray for all of us to be successful with our Lord in this life and in the Next life and we ask His Guidance and Support in doing so,

Both the Bible and the Quran have come to us by way of Almighty God, then through His angel Gabriel and then to the prophets, them.

Muslims should respect the Bible because it does still contain some of the original teachings of Allah.

But there is no need to go to Bible classes or purchase one to read to try to learn about what our purpose is here in this life. The Quran makes it clear that Allah has indeed, perfected our “way of life” for us and has conferred on us His favor and has chosen for us to submit to Him in Islam.

We would like to suggest to the non-Muslims to consider obtaining a Quran and then investigate for themselves what the Quran is really all about and what it might mean to them in their lives.

I would like to state that after years of studying the Bible and then learning the Arabic language to read the Quran as it was originally recited to Muhammad, peace be upon him, by the angel Gabriel, I have come to an amazing conclusion.

It seems to me that the Bible and the Quran are most definitely from the exact same source and they compliment each other very nicely.

In fact, it appears that the Bible does not contradict the Quran, except in the very same places where the Bible contradicts itself.

          • pamohamedameen says:

Debbie You got to do more research on the history of Islam Debbie You are jumping to conclusions

No one’s interpretation is the last word on war and peace or other such principles on Islam.

But it was and remains a duty for Muslims to commit themselves to a struggle on all fronts- moral, spiritual and political-¬–to create a just and decent society, where the poor and the vulnerable are not exploited, in the way that God had intended man to live.

The Quran amplifies this forcefully¬, quote

“ Had God not driven back the people, some by the
means of others, the earth had surely been corrupted ; but God is merciful unto all beings.”

The Quran says “Fighting is an evil thing, but to bar people from God’s way, disbelief in Him and the Holy Mosque, and to expel its people from it—that is more evil in God’s sight. And persecutio¬n is worse than killing.”

            Holy Quran 2: 213”

Every Ayat ( verse) must be interpreted against the background of the Quran as a whole.

Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors. Sura 2: 190 and turn against you, you shall fight them, and you may kill them when you encounter them in war. You shall not accept them as friends, or allies.

[4:91] You will find others who wish to make peace with you, and also with their people. However, as soon as war erupts, they fight against you. Unless these people leave you alone, offer you peace, and stop fighting you, you may fight them when you encounter them. Against these, we give you a clear authorization.
Thus the Quran does allow fighting in self defence with a further condition that if they desist behold God is much forgiving a dispenser of grace ( 2:192)

I totally agree with you about Mohammed. He was a masacre who killed many in the name of God so he says. He didn’t believe in God he believed in power and greed. He was a false prophet and he knew the people were very weak minded and he could easily brain wash them into what ever he wanted them to believe and do.

Just like today many followers of him are still weak minded.

No one should ever compare Jesus to Mohammed it is an insult to do so. Jesus went out to spread love and compassion and to be kind to all people…you can never say the same about Mohammed.

We have both been making comparisons and I admit that you found a few that I never thought of. When a muslim “friend” told me that we worshiped the same God after I had been reading the koran I knew at that moment he was a false friend. God gave us the gift of discerning minds for a reason it is up to us to ask him to give it to us as individuals so that we will know the truth and be able to protect ourselves and not be fooled. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is great and good and merciful. Thank God for Jesus so we can be reconciled with The Father in Heaven.

And please remember that every “news” organization is run by powerful people that have their own agendas that determine how and if they cover any event. Consider this; if people in the Middle East only hear of Christians as extremists that want to kill, bomb, and overthrow whatever doesn’t mesh with their religious beliefs (extremists), they would likely think that Christians are crazy killers with a lust for blood and think that the Bible is evil.

          Dear Searching,

I’ve read the Quran. I’ve read it in English translations (along with the Surah’s and Haddiths) and had it read to me in Arabic with English translation by 2 Arabic speaking (their first language, English is actually their 3rd language) converted muslims and have spent over 300 hours in research and discourse.
With that being said, you are either misguided, misinformed or intentionally/willfully attempting to deceive.
I will not do the “work” for you, IF you are honestly “searching” then a good place to start your search is: http://prophetofdoom.net/
The author of this site has over 10,000 hours of research (making my 300 hours seem quite paltry) including interviews with muslims (in their country) who are self avowed jihad fighters.
Or you might spend a few hours reading through articles on http://www.jihadwatch.org/ – or if you are not big on reading and prefer to have your information spoon fed to you through visual media, try watching Robert Spencer – the man is a legitimate authority on Islam.
I could list more, but these will get you started …. that is IF you are honestly “searching” …. IF not, /shrug your loss after all “You can’t teach a pig to sing … wastes your time and pisses off the pig.” And honestly, I’m sincerely NOT interested in wasting my time or pissing you off …

          • Lichen says:

Well said. The sources you list are exactly those I would have recommended. . . as a journalist I have studied and written on Islam for about 9 years. I’ve read the Koran. And you’re right… it has nothing in common with Christianity, and I would consider its writings very negative, deceptive, dark, misguided, and well… even evil. If the Pope honestly said and believes this nonsense, he is no pope I want to follow because he would be a false one.

Pope Francis is making a big effort to rid the world of judgementalism and religious discrimination, and he is going to extremes to drive his point home. His position as Pope allows him to do this because God knows his heart. I hope his efforts pay off.

    • openeyedamerican says:

Thank you Raya for being the first to reflect a rationale beyond the unrealistic suffocating vacuum we as a culture have enabled ourselves to live within. The sick notion USA such the “Christian” country that somehow has been commissioned by God to drop bombs all over the world, with some religiously radical fundamental reasoning its a “duty to God & country”. Pope Francis is the first Pope to question not only the deep faith I was raised with (Catholic),with its twisted “sins” & guilt driven nonsense, but to point out that YES, indeed, “Allah” is the same God the Catholic church and others worship. Its simply Arabic for “God”. And has anyone here read BOTH the Holy Bible and parts of Quran? I have. Guess what? If anything, the Bible shows less mercy with violence than the Quran. Both are horrifically violent with text of “terror”, words of Satan mixed in with words of God to test us.

We need to come to terms with the fact that today, the US Military still stands as the biggest, most violent, most destructive force in the world. (comprised of innocent yet misguided by sinful political agenda women and men). We as a nation glorify our wars as “service and sacrifice”, when its only ever been about money and yes, a religiously radical connection. A religious monetary militancy driven to deceive the masses to believe marketing slogans of “freedom” and “democracy”, as a way to “protect our way of life”. It’s only “protected the profits and “power” of combined destructive teams of NATO/Global MIC/Pentagon/CIA “intelligence” of misinformation central to our perpetual sinful war machine. A well oiled, well greased madness, with direct fallouts called “terrorism”.

Where are the true sinners? Certainly not those taking contraceptives, having to make the heart-breaking choice of abortion, not going to church every Sunday or even questioning their faith in God today, turning to atheism or Buddha. God knows what is in every heart, and if it is goodness rather than hate, anger, violence, mass killing—-that person will go to heaven faster than any Priest molesting children or glorifying war as “service”.

It is time for all of us, especially Christians, to exercise caution when it comes to attacking the term for God in a language foreign to most of us.

      • Connie says:

openeyedamerican – The One True God is NOT the same god as the quran. If you are Christian, you should completely know and understand who YOU worship. Read up on what the god of the quran says and commands. Who and what that “god” is and declares to be. It is NOT the one and only Holy Trinity by any means and the commandments of the quran are polar opposite of Holy Scripture. Do not be deceived. If the Roman Catholic church is not teaching The Holy Trinity and Jesus Christ is God, Lord and Savior then you are being deceived. Just be cause the pope says something does NOT make it true. He is human like anyone else, can and does make mistakes either knowingly or unknowingly. We all must read Scripture for the God’s truth. Not rely on any human. As Scripture says, Psalm 146:3 Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans. The pope is a HUMAN and if he actually said any of these incorrect statements of blasphemy, you should run from his teaching as quickly as you can. Stand with God’s Holy Word only – not anyone who teaches anything other than that. God Bless all….

The prophecy was made public years ago that Obama would be the last president and this pope would be the last pope. The last pope is a betrayer. I was so hoping it was a crock but here she goes folks.! We must all be strong in the face of the enemy now and forever. Obama is the enemy and so is islam. It is time to put away the plow shears and break out the swords, knives, bows, shirikas, AK47’s, AK15’s, and your guts and put on the whole armor of God. It’s time to march Christian Soldiers. I am honestly just wondering how a website’s tagline can be “America’s #1 Independent News Source” while being flanked by two staunch republicans. Independent, in my opinion, would mean non-partisan.

This is my first time on this site (following a link from Twitter) and that first impression immediately told me that this is not, truly, an “independent” source of information.

My search for non-partisan news continues. Since most of the people on here appear to be conservatives – just judging by the comments and content – I’ll probably get some backlash here, but so far, I have found NPR to be truly non-partisan. No judgement or loaded language. Just reporting of facts. Still, there is room for improvement. But this site certainly isn’t an improvement on it.

You should spend your time encouraging muslims to explain why it is that they recognize a false god they call allah, as the living GOD (YHVH) of the universe?
Are muslims just playing tricks trying to convince the west that they worship a false god, but really they worship YHVH through their faith in HIS son JESUS?

Abraham was a Sumerian from the Sumerian capital Ur. He followed all the Sumerian gods but favored the Head God Enlil above all others. Enlil was the leader of the Gods. The bible is simply a poorly written condensed version of much early Sumerian beliefs and mythology. The whole world is fighting and killing over whose version of a fairy tale is better. We will never achieve anything close to peace until we become enlightened enough to put our fairy tales and mythology behind us. In a world where there are still people who think the world is flat, I don’t hold much hope we will ever reach peace.

You are mistaken in your understanding of Jesus. He was a man on earth, and did the things you claim, yes. But from the beginning of time, he was a manifestation of God, and came to us as his son temporarily in order to teach us and save us and establish a “new covenant” with God’s people. His purpose here was far, far, beyond mere “preaching” as you state. After his death, he was again transformed to be a part of our God… one of the Trinity of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. This is Christian belief.

Are you sure you had grammar and writing courses? You are the one too quick to pick out cherries for yourself that you fail to even understand that they are RED not blue. Have the Pope the Bible well. Where on the Bible did Jesus (a messanger of God) said I am God worship me. These names he mentioned in his statement are not the same. Allah is differ from any other name like Jesus. The Koran and Bible are not the same in any way because in the Quran there is nothing like ponogragraphy, sexual education and many more, but in the Bible, you find furnication statements in it. In the Koran there is nothing like Homosexual and contraceptive, it is not allowed in Islam. The Bokk are not the same.

What would you call those? and yet he is your prophet from your God. You are very right the Quran and Bible are 2 separete books.

  17. Dustin says:

Francis is confused. The god of Muhammad is not the same as the Father of Christ. It doesn’t matter how it translates. It doesn’t matter the deity. When Christianity teaches love your neighbor and Islam teaches kill those who refuse to submit then they are not the same. Catholicism was corrupted by Islam in the Dark Ages when Islamic fanatics were invading and that confuses people today who do not understand history. But it is what they are today that tells the truth.

God says in the Holy Bible: “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)

Jesus says in the Holy Bible: “My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (Luke 10:20)

Sura 19:20,34, Jesus praised his birth and then said, “I am the servant of Allah.” And Allah teaches, “It is not for God to take a son unto Him.” Here we have Jesus speaking denying everything he said in the Bible.

In Sura 10:68-70 They say: “God hath begotten a son!” – Glory be to Him! He is self- sufficient! His are all things in the heavens and on earth! No warrant have ye for this! say ye about God what ye know not? Say: “Those who invent a lie against God will never prosper.” A little enjoyment in this world!- and then, to Us will be their return, then shall We make them taste the severest penalty for their blasphemies.”

  20. John s says:

    The apostate anti-pope strikes again!
Jesus Christ is God,creator of all things above and below, seen and unseen. The muslims reject that and will put to death people for saying that.
Therefore, to even imply that we worship the same god is the very definition of apostasy.
This is the last Pope according to the Catholic prophecies of St Malachy. Therefore, according to several interpretations he very well might be the False Prophet of Revelation.

Quran is updated and revised edition of all the previous holy books. A human with brain’s child is llike a student of elementary school God gave cocession to learn gradually and never wanted mankind to take burden. So He sent different prophets from time to time to deliver His messages and update human mind to take the right path and come closer to Him who is the only God and Creator for all who believe in Him. God created Adam with his own hands and gave life to him but religious book has ever mentioned Adam as son of God though he was born to no mother. How come Jesus (PBUH) could be God’s son or God himself. There is no Death to God. If God dies the whole Universe would collapse. For Muslims Jesus is respected as much as
Muhammad and all holy books are sacred

  24. Mo says:

come on people don’t be silly, the Pope didn’t say the holy bible and the quran are identical, if you study islam and the quran there are many spiritual teaching were taken from the bible in the Mekkian quran in the early period of islam when the islamic prophet mohammad was weak and trying to preach his prophecy peacefully before he was kicked out to almadena, most of good peaceful muslims are using that part and go with it and ignore the later ISISy part, and yes ISIS and their friends use the extreme horrible hatred part of quran when mohammad established his meleshia and gang at almadina. you got to be careful when you study islam, and as a pope, religious leader and a president who is responsible of many organizations and charities and thousands of parishes in muslims countries he will bring up that spiritual part of quran which was taken from the bible, and by the way in some language and cultures we use “we” to criticize and blame the others like when he said “No longer shall we slaughter our neighbors over differences in reference to their God.” he was like saying I will never do that…

It is not difficult for Allah to do anything he wants. He can create a child with both human parents or only one. No miracle is beyond His power.

After all, He had created Adam from neither a man nor a woman. What is so hard if Allah decides to create a human being from a woman only? He only commands “Be!” and it occurs.

Some people think that since Jesus, peace be upon him, had no human father then God must be his father. The Qur’an rejects this view. The position of Jesus with Allah is comparable to the position of Adam with Allah. Just because Adam had no human parent does not mean we should call him the Son of God.

Lo! the likeness of Jesus with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then He said unto him: Be! and he is.

  25. pamohamedameen says:

    A quote from the Quran

    HOLY QURAN 3:45

“Nearest to God,” not physically nor geographically, but spiritually.

Compare this with – “And (Jesus) sat on the right hand of God.”(Mark – 16:19).

The bulk of Christendom has misunderstood this verse as well as many others in the Bible. They imagine the Father (God) sitting on a throne – a glorified chair – and His “son”, Jesus, sitting on His right hand side.

Can you conjure up the picture? If you do, you have strayed from the true knowledge of God.

He is no old Father Christmas. He is a spiritual Being, beyond and far beyond the imagination of the mind of man. He exists.

He is real, but He is not like anything we can think of, or imagine.

In eastern languages “right hand” meant a place of honour, which the Holy Quran more fittingly describes as –

The above verse confirms that Jesus is the CHRIST, and that he is the WORD which God bestowed upon Mary.

Again, the Christian reads into these words, a meaning which they do not carry.

They equate the word “Christ” with the idea of a god-incarnate; and the word from God to be God!.

I swear I do not mean to offend anyone Forgive me if anyone is offended

  26. pamohamedameen says:

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is one of the most important women in the Qur’an, as she is the only woman identified by name.

The Quran does not mention not even the name of Eve

Mary’s name not only appears far more in the Qur’an than in the New Testament, but it is also the title of a Chapter in the Quran Chapter Number 19, which discusses the annunciation, Jesus’s birth, and Jesus’s first words, spoken before birth and in the cradle—

    I quote the Quran below

“Mary the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit( Jesus Christ) and she testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His Revelations, and was one of the devout (servants).”

    [Quran 66:12] ”

Please borrow a copy of the Quran and read teh chapter Mary
I can arrange to send a copy to you if you desire

Many Islamic scholars have said that Mary was the only female Prophet recognised in the Abrahamic religion

If she were informed of things to come by God’s word, even through his angel, and infused with God’s spirit, was Mary, then, a Quranic prophet?

Please read more and try to reduce your bias and ill will commentators We try to build bridges of understanding not enmity

  27. pamohamedameen says:

Astonishing as it may sound, it is an admitted fact that prior to the sixteenth century, the word “Jehovah,” was unheard of.

Whenever the origin of this word appeared in its true Hebrew form in Jewish Scriptures (read from right to left as in Arabic) Yet, Huh, Wav, Huh; or Y.H.W.H. these four letters were preceded by a substitute word “Adonai,” to warn the reader that the following word was not to be articulated.

The Jews took meticulous care in repeating this exercise in their “Book of God” six thousand, eight hundred and twenty-three times – interpolating the words “Adonai” or “Elohim.” They sincerely believed that this awesome name of God was never to be pronounced.

If Jehovah is the name of God Almighty, and if the 27 Books of the New Testament were inspired by Him, then it is an anomaly of the highest order, that He (Jehovah) signally failed to have His Own Name recorded in “His Word” (N.T.) the Christian addition to the Jewish Bible.

The Christians claim that they have in their possession over twenty-four thousand so-called “originals” of their Holy Writ in the Greek language, and yet not a single parchment has “Jehovah” written in it.

Curiously this “name of God” (?) has been sacrilegiously replaced by the Greek words ky’ri.os and the.os’, which mean ‘Lord’ and ‘God.’ Yet, miracle of miracles – Alleluya! – no devil or saint has been able to eliminate the word “ALLAH” from the so-called New Testament of the Christians.

A hundred years ago, all of a sudden, more than a hundred new cults and denominations of Christiandom mushroomed in the United States of America. The Seventh Day Adventists, the Christian Scientists, the Menonites, the Christiadelphins, The Jehovah’s Witnesses and the like.

The founder of the last named cult, a Judge Rutherford, about whom the orthodox Christians say that he was no “Judge.” This Judge was a voracious book-worm and a prolific writer. He stumbled across the word “Jehovah” which tickled him immensely, and he made a religion out of it.

Judge Rutherford, followed by Charles T. Russell created a new “church,” which in its system of organisation and administration is second to none in the world.

There is very much we Muslims can learn from their enthusiasm and methodology. Read, “Thirty Years a Watchtower Slave” by Schelin.

  28. pamohamedameen says:

The Qur’an tells us a lot of wonderful things about Jesus. As a result, believers in the Qur’an love Jesus, honour him, and believe in him. In fact, no Muslim can be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, on whom be peace.

The Qur’an says that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he spoke while he was still only a baby, that he healed the blind and the leper by God’s leave, and that he raised the dead by God’s leave.

What then is the significance of these miracles? First, the virgin birth. God demonstrates his power to create in every way. God created everyone we know from a man and a woman. But how about Adam, on whom be peace? God created him from neither a man nor a woman. And Eve from only a man, but not a woman. And, finally, to complete the picture, God created Jesus from a woman, but not a man.

What about the other miracles? These were to show that Jesus was not acting on his own behalf, but that he was backed by God. The Qur’an specifies that these miracles were performed by God’s leave. This may be compared to the Book of Acts in the Bible, chapter 2, verse 22, where it says that the miracles were done by God to show that he approved of Jesus. Also, note that Jesus himself is recorded in the Gospel of John to have said, “I can do nothing of my own authority” (5:30). The miracles, therefore, were done not by his own authority, but by God’s authority.

What did Jesus teach? The Qur’an tells us that Jesus came to teach the same basic message which was taught by previous prophets from God—that we must shun every false god and worship only the one true God.

Jesus taught that he is the servant and messenger of that one true God, the God of Abraham. These Quranic teachings can be compared with the Bible ( Mark 10:18; Matthew 26:39; John 14:28, 17:3, and 20:17) where Jesus teaches that the one he worshipped is the only true God. See also Matthew 12:18; Acts 3:13, and 4:27 where we find that his disciples knew him as Servant of God.

The Qur’an tells us that some of the Israelites rejected Jesus, and conspired to kill him, but Allah (God) rescued Jesus and raised him to Himself. Allah will cause Jesus to descend again, at which time Jesus will confirm his true teachings and everyone will believe in him as he is and as the Qur’an teaches about him.

Jesus is the Messiah. He is a word from Allah, and a spirit from Him. He is honoured in this world and in the hereafter, and he is one of those brought nearest to Allah.

Jesus was a man who spoke the truth which he heard from God. This can be compared with the Gospel According to John where Jesus says to the Israelites: “You are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God” (John 8:40).

He created him from dust, then He said unto him: Be! and he is.

    (Qur’an 3:59).

  29. pamohamedameen says:

How do some of the Muslim mystics (Sufism as it is called) view the birth of Jesus and his soul and incarnation?

Hindus, Jews, Christians and and and Sufi Muslims contemplate on revealed scriptures in order to make their faith in God stronger and follow the basic non-violent teachings of God Almighty

In objective form as “books” are mirrors of our innate and pre existing intellect/nature/ consciousness.

The innate Dharma (justice) that man forgets as he/she becomes entangled in Maya (illusion). That is why the sacred scriptures are called revelations in Judeo Christian and Islamic traditions.

They outwardly reveal that which is already within us, but that which we keep forgetting.

The reason the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, Psalms, Quran, etc…..are Sacred is because they contain within them the Liberating Truths and Graces which are already within us.

The reason the Vedas have been read and contemplated, and not Leo Tolstoy or the Twilight Saga is because the Vedas are not just another poetry book or novel or some “literature”

They are indeed the supreme spirit of God fragmented in revelations in religious scripture.

You don’t have to accept it or see the wisdom in it but that doesn’t change the reality of what they are!!

The scriptures in a way server an avataric ( incarnation) function.

They, as well as the human form of the Avatar (incarnation for example Jesus Christ) serve the same function.

The “human” Avatar and the “scriptural” Avatar are both objective modes of the One Essence.

In a way the Essence becomes a particular form that serves as a mirror (example Jesus is a mirror) so the form may again become the Essence. People take the reflection of the Reality as the Ultimate Reality itself. This is our folly

The Subject becomes the object so the separative objective may once again be pushed inward to become one again with the inner Subject.
