<National Report>National Report celebrity gossip columnist and ex-gay spokesman, Manfred Peregrine is currently recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after being assaulted by a group of angry “heshers”. Manfred’s platonic life partner, Chaz, witnessed the event but was fortunately not injured by the assailants. Sitting by Manfred’s bedside and still very shaken, Chaz described the confrontation to us over the phone:
“Manny and I were headed for the Jeff Hanneman protest or whatever… I told him I had a bad feeling after seeing some of the responses to his articles. He was assuring me everything would be fine when a crowd of long-haired kids dressed in all black surrounded us. One of them had a boom box and started to play this loud angry music. I was ushered out of the group… That’s when they all began flailing against each other violently with poor Manfred caught right in the middle! I watched as he was knocked to the pavement and stomped on by the gang. When the police finally arrived the crowd had dispersed leaving only Manfred, bloody and unconscious.
The doctors tell me he’s in bad shape but stable. None of his injuries were life threatening…several broken bones, a concussion, a pole shoved in his ass… I plan to stay by his side until he’s better. I’ll keep the National Report up to date on his status.”
We believe the act Chaz described is what is known as “moshing”. A chaotic trance-like state enjoyed by fanatics while listening to “heavy metal” music.
The police say no arrests have been made in the attack nor do they have any suspects at this time.
The National Report wishes Manfred a speedy recovery.
