(National Report) – Jay Z, a former poor black person with a criminal past, is the embodiment of the American promise. He is by any definition a multi-media mogul. If a black person works hard, makes dubious collaborations and focuses on selling to rich white people, the distribution of wealth will flow back into the black community, or at least Jay Z’s black community.
Unfortunately, many poor black fans see Jay Z’s plan to profile for “whites only” consumers of his luxury brand as racist against blacks. The singer, producer and purveyor of luxury goods responded to his citics by flaring his nostrils in a statement to fans.
“I move and speak based on facts and not emotion,” Jay Z said in statement. “I haven’t made any comments because I am waiting on facts and the outcome of a meeting between community leaders and Barneys. Why am I being demonized, denounced and thrown on the cover of a newspaper for not speaking immediately?”
The conflict has many questioning if blacks are just playing the race card instead of thinking this through logically. Also, Do Blacks even understand how money works?
The accusations stem from recent reports of black profiling where black shoppers have reported being stopped by police after making purchases at Barney’s, a New York luxury dry goods department store.
Two people have filed lawsuits against Barney’s and the NYPD for profiling them as poor black consumers instead of rich white consumers. Trayon Christian and Kayla Phillips, said this week they were detained by police after making expensive purchases they really could not afford.
Poor black consumers can ill afford these luxury items and place themselves at risk for violent crime. The NYPD teaches poor blacks to save their hard earned money and not squander wealth on luxury. What many are calling “racial profiling” is actually crime prevention, since many poor-on-poor muggings happen over luxury items.
“When blacks market products to only blacks, the wealth is circulated only within the black community. Black overall wealth remains the same. When blacks market to whites, black wealth is increased and that’s racist!” says Supreme KKK Dragon, Archibald Forrest Campbell, in a phone interview.
Reverend Al Sharpton advised concerned citizens to put purchases from Barney’s “on hold” until the claims of racism can be investigated. Many see this as a call to boycott the retailer.
Members of the KKK (Klu Klux Klan) agree that black marketing to whites only is racist and plan to join Reverend Al Sharpton in boycotting or holding off making any purchases from Barney’s department store.
Meanwhile, retail managers at Barney’s don’t have to call the cops on poor blacks and racist KKK members due to the boycott. In addition, the Shawn Carter Foundation, which provides college scholarships to economically challenged students, will get 25 percent of all “rich white only” sales from the collaboration with Jay Z.
