Hologram Kurt Cobain To Tour With Original Members Of Nirvana For 2014 Tour

hologram-kurt-cobain-nirvana-tourIn 2013, attendees of Cochella were blown away when a holographic image of Tupac Shakur walked onto the stage and began performing his hit song, Hail Mary. Since then, record execs have been mulling over which deceased artist they should resurrect next and it appears they’ve finally made their decision; The legendary grunge rocker, Kurt Cobain.

Yes, it has been confirmed that Kurt Cobain will once again take the stage alongside original Nirvana members, Dave Grohl, and, Krist Novoselic, for what is sure to be the biggest concert event of 2014.

Kurt Cobain is known for being one of the founding members of the 90’s grunge movement. Born in Aberdeen, Washington, he started the band which would go onto become Nirvana in 1987. The late songwriter passed away in 1994 due to a widely publicized and controversial suicide.

Now, through the magic of holograph technology, Cobain will once again bond with his fans through the medium of live performance. Truly, the only foreseeable downside are incredibly expensive ticket prices, with the cheapest seats going for several hundred dollars.

Dave Grohl has since went on to form his own successful rock group, Foo Fighters, had the following to say about the upcoming tour. “We’re doing this for the fans, pure and simple. It’s been twenty years since the original Nirvana lineup has played together. It’s going to be an honor to once again share the stage with Cobain. Lots of fond memories. I can’t wait.”

The official show dates have yet to be announced but sources indicate that the tour should kick off in the late summer of 2014.

  7. Morgan says:

‘Original line up’? Does that mean it’ll be Chad Channing?

    • Chris B says:

Original line-up would actually be Aaron Burkhardt sitting on drums.

    • Chris B says:

The original lineup would actually be Aaron Burkhardt on drums

      • JohnZ says:

If The Beatles were to reunite, would you rather have Ringo Starr or Pete Best on drums? Dave Grohl is the best known drummer of Nirvana and knows/wrote more of the band’s repertoire than his predecessors. He may not have been there for Bleach or the early days, but Nevermind and In Utero hold every Nirvana track most people hear. It would be silly to not have Dave Grohl on drums so a guy who hasn’t played Blew for 25 years can nail that song then screw up Come As You Are (along with most likely every other song on the setlist).

        • Edward says:

He played Blew just fine the other night in Olympia. Was very easy to tell that he was the guy who brought that particular drum style to the band.

      • By the time Kurt & Krist’s band was Nirvana, Dale Crover was already playing for them.

  8. Mutterficker says:

Something tells me this is pepper’s ghost/2D projections rather than a real holograms. We have created real holograms, but they’re very simple.
Now that I’ve ruined your buzz, I will take my leave.

    • Theo says:

You’re right, the Tupac image was a projection downward from the front of the stage onto a large screen/mirrored surface (where security normally stands behind the barrier) and reflects at a 45-degree angle onto an also 45-degree stretched plastic in the front of the stage, replacing the glass normally used for the Pepper’s ghost effect. The band plays behind the screen and it’s seemless. Using SMPTE time code and a pre-programmed song list, the band can play along with a HD video recording with great results. No holograms in this show.

  9. Chris B says:

It says that the cheapest tickets will be going for several hundred dollars…and in the very next sentence, Grohl has the nerve to say that they are “doing it for the fans”….Come on, really???
I’m about the biggest Nirvana fan their is, but never got the chance to see them live. These prices are a real down for people like me, because only a rich man can afford tickets at the price. Still, we are most likely going to pay whatever these greedy pricks ask. They have us by the short hairs.

  10. Miky Dunn says:

What a load of crap. I can’t see Kris and Dave doing this. “Rape Me again”!!!!

  11. punk rockers says:

dave grohl says he is doing ths for the fans? Why not just admit that the real reason is for the money? Why the lie?

    • Punk Posers says:

Save your ill-informed rhetoric for naive 14-year-olds. This idea is in bad taste because a hologram is lame, but you’re delusional if you think Grohl would do this for the money. He’s worth $260 million already, and he made that money by doing what he thought would make for the best art. Going for a quick buck doesn’t give you the career longevity that he’s had, and in your eagerness to be self-righteous you miss the obvious. I don’t even like most of Grohl’s stuff, but he’s never done it “for the money.”

      • mr fun says:

He’s played a good game over the years but if you believe the commercial rock market isn’t a factor in his songwriting you’re crazy. Stadium rock, radio friendly (unit shifters) are what’s put most of that money in his bank. Its certainly put more in there than Probot ever did. His real winning skill is keeping his credibility while attempting to do everything from pop to metal all at the same time, which I applaud. This hologram shit is pushing it though.

  12. Joe says:

Am I the only one who thinks this is a fucking stupid idea. Let it die already. Seriously. Kurt is probably rolling in his grave right now, pissed at how money hungry Dave Grohl and his ex-wife/possible murder-conspirator Courtney Love have become. What an embarrassment.

    • Ike says:

I’m pretty sure he can’t roll over in his grave since he was cremated and all.

    • mr fun says:

you’re most certainly not the only one. If it is true. I had to check I wasnt reading the Onion. I find it harder to believe Krist is doing it.

  13. Bart says:

This is a terrible idea. But the article is fantastic. Cobain “passed away in 1994 due to a widely publicized and controversial suicide.” His suicide was “controversial”? I’m pretty stupid so can you explain what that means? And what does the level of publicity have to do with it? Otherwise awesome work.

    • Boddah says:

Many people believe that Kurt was murdered. The prime suspect is Courtney, and frankly, there is a lot of evidence pointing towards murder. So, his assumed suicide is controversial.

  14. Redzuan says:

what ? someone said Dave will do it for the money? he already a millionaire u bastards!

i cant wait. this must be one of the scene of their repetition dreams from the past 20 years. Go Krist. Go Dave! Thanks for everything…

  15. William Lever says:

Grohl — “We’re doing this for the fans, pure and simple…” then put on a FREE show, instead of tickets going for at least Hundreds per! Fuck you Dave, you phony piece of shit.

  16. Eoin says:

Dave Ghrol wasn’t an original member

  17. Rebecca says:

He used to style himself as ‘Kurdt Kobain’, this may have been in reference to this x

  18. Gary says:

This is actually one of the most disgusting things ive ever read (not the article itself just the terrible idea to make Kurt a hologram)

    • Stelios says:

Same here… I mean Kurt is dead, why would you bring him back from his grave even in a hologram..? Isn’t it sacrilege to do this thing? :s

  19. Joe says:

There should be an El Duce hologram that wanders the streets at night.

  20. Mike D in Torontoe says:

I hope they play that smells like clean parrots song….i like that one

  21. Kourtney Luv says:

    Thank you.

  22. Tenoch says:

    2Pac’s hologram was in 2012.

  23. Ibanez says:

“Truly, the only foreseeable downside are incredibly expensive ticket prices, with the cheapest seats going for several hundred dollars.”

Ticket prices like this and they’re doing it for the fans?

  24. tony says:

is this for real? in very bad taste if it is…shame on you Grohl !

  25. Billy says:

This has to be a joke, right? Lamest idea, ever. Let the fucking guy rest already. I say this as someone who has seen the band play live over 5 times in the 90’s. This is an embarrassment and the remaining band members should be ashamed. Kurt is rolling over in his grave. He’d crush this stupid idea in a heartbeat…if he had one. 😉

    • Nadia says:

Billy you were a lucky one part of history, yeh i love nirvana too, i was born the same year he died, but eh,you know? we’re having a problem it’s like… of all dead musicians, all dead rockstars, kurt cobain is the fucking only one who people cant accept he’s dead, every year i see how he dies over, and over, and over on tv shows telling the same little shitty story of that-tormented-guy-who-shoot-himself he took the right choice of doing if he’d knew his fans were gonna be like this…. teenagers killing themselves, imitating him in shameless tribute bands, or… those 14 year old morons,or even 44 year old morons who couldnt mature as free people and let the spirit of that guy takes his own path… he said he felt ashamed for the people who wanted to be someone else, sorry kurt…

      • william says:

yes nadia keep listening but this is moronic kurt would think so too…he would absolutley hate that this was happening

      • mr fun says:

There are a hell of a lot of people who refuse to accept Elvis is dead (google it, they are insane), and a million Ramones tribute bands, just to name a couple.

Kurt gets it worse because of the questionable death circumstances, but it’s not just him.

  26. Nadia says:

Shit this is worst than an Elvis miming on old footage filees when the rest of the band were playing over…. CANN YOU ACCEPT THE FACT HE DIED BECAUSE HE DIDNT WANNA PLAY ANYMORE? god, what a self-humilliation to fans,to bandmembers (greedy bitches) and a dead musician, this is ridiculous, make me a hologram of the ramones too! i never saw em live!!! and they played in my country 26 times!!

  27. pjb says:

What a joke. Anyone who would even consider attending this fiasco is an idiot. Dave Grohl says it’s for the fans… Bullshit, it’s for the money, of course. Best thing to happen to rock and roll was the end of Nirvana.

  28. william says:

Any true Nirvana fan would think this is moronic i know kurt would..

  29. kingbadger says:

Considering the original fans will be in their 30’s on average (at least) then the price tag of hundreds of dollars is not too far-fetched…

  30. Pereztroika says:

i’m so getting in to the hologram business….

  31. DaddysLittleGirl says:

I’m a huge Nirvana fan and have always deeply regretted not being able to see them live. But I really don’t like this idea of “resurrecting” Kurt. I wouldn’t pay high dollars to see basically a moving image of Kurt…. what’s the point? I can see that in videos. Either way, I’m not seeing the real Kurt. I think if it were possible to ask him if he approves of this, he’d give us all the finger and walk away.

  32. Brian says:

I hope his hologram kills itself as well.

  33. Brian says:

Maybe we’ll get lucky and the hologram will also commit suicide.

  34. Fat lando says:

Tell you what I’m a left handed guitarist and can growl like Kurt…let me know…I’m free this summer. http://Www.hocusmusic.com

  35. Lowebrau says:

No no no no no wrong wrong wrong wrong.
I don’t think Kurt would’ve liked this or agreed to this at all.

  36. Nirvanaforevermore says:

Why not just let Courtney sing his words She’s gonna get Kurt’s share of the concert profits anyway. Let her earn it. LMFAO!!!

  37. Gsh27 says:

Nooo, NOT controversial suicide! I don’t know why I hate seeing that now these days in the news but man, some people are just dumb and ignorant with the topic of his death. Have some empathy and look at what his situation was like at the end.. Hah just you know shooting endless nameless amounts of Heroin, and being sick constantly physically and mentally. If you’ve never been there before then don’t try and act like you get it, or just go try it yourselves for about 4 years straight and let me no how you feel about life then lmaoo

  38. ed says:

people should be embarrassed to do this. If you’re into this type of entertainment, you’re not letting the dead “rest in peace”. shame on Dave & Krist
