<National Report> Since Obamacare took effect on October 1st, eleven hospitalized Americans requiring emergency critical medical procedures died waiting for approval. Irate doctors and the families of Obamacare’s first 11 victims are up in arms over the lack of attention shown by those entrusted to run the president’s new boondoggle.
Dr. Rai Chopra, MD, with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles told reporters earlier that two deaths occurred at the facility since Obamacare went into effect nine days ago. Dr. Chopra, said, “We lost one patient six days ago who was first seen in the Emergency Room for a head trauma after being in a single vehicle rollover accident. The Emergency Room doctor ordered the patient into emergency surgery due to swelling of the brain. Doctors immediately did what they could to reduce the swelling and prepped the man for surgery.
Our office contacted Obamacare for emergency authorization and were first put on hold for 10 minutes. When the operator came back on the line she said someone would get back to us in a few minutes. Almost 25 minutes later they called and said “authorization was pending supervisor approval.”
When we got the OK 32 minutes later the patient had been dead for 10 minutes”, Dr. Chopra said. Chopra added the second patient died yesterday after coming into the Emergency Room with a case of poisoning. He said the Obamacare people answering their phone seemed to have no idea how to handle a poisoning. “That became an hour delay during which time we lost the patient”, he added.
When asked what he thought of Obamacare Dr. Chopra responded, “So far its a disaster.” Reports indicate nine other people died in hospitals around the country waiting for emergency authorizations since Obamacare went into effect nine days ago.
These deaths raise a number of questions about Obamacare, most importantly is the inability of the system to respond to emergency authorizations. Still in its infancy we expect bugs in the system that will take time to work out. But the public has a reasonable expectation that the system has emergency procedures in place and employees know how to quickly handle life threatening authorizations. Definitely that is not the case here.
Tea Party members I spoke to told me they’d received an email from other Tea Partiers three weeks ago claiming Obamacare employees are under a strict mandate to hold all critical emergency authorizations 30 minutes before approving requests or sending them to a supervisor for a decision.
Billy Ray Jackson, 34, from Greenville, TN, who is a member of the local Tea Party and Citizens Militia in Jeffers County said, “We knew this would happen. Not only was Obamacare so hastily assembled before it was shoved down people’s throats that the medical community had little or no input getting it off the ground. Obamacare like all the rest of the president’s programs was destined to fail right out of the gate and it has.”
We can only wait to see if this issue is to be quickly resolved. And with Obama’s failing popularity worldwide he cannot afford to permit this situation to continue. More as it is available.
