<National Report> On September 21, 2012, two amateur astronomers (Vitali Nevski of Belarus and Artyom Novichonok of Russia) used a telescope owned by the International Scientific Optical Network to discover a new comet that was christened using the acronym of the instrument used to find it: Comet ISON.
According to public information released by the government and NASA calculations show ISON will travel closest to the sun, less than 750,000 miles (1.2 million km) above the sun’s surface, making it a true “sungrazer,” on Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day in the United States). ISON will then travel toward Earth, passing within 40 million miles (64 million km) of our planet a month later.
While none of this information is disputed the Russians continue to track and report on ISON and have released information through the Kremlin that is not being reported by the U.S. government or in mainstream media.
According to a Russian source we’ve used in the past the National Report is receiving documentation that on September 15, 2013, the Russian Federal Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS) reported suspicious activity claiming “Comet C/2012 S1 has made a number of “unexpected orbital adjustments” around the planet Mars “seemingly to better align itself with the Red planets” strange moon “Phobos.”
The report continues, “Phobos is the larger and closer of the two natural satellites of Mars.” In 1958 Russian astrophysicist Iosif Samuilovich Shklovsky, who was studying the secular acceleration of Phobos’s orbital motion, suggested a “thin sheet of metal structure for Phobos,” leading Russian scientist to conclude “Phobos is of artificial origin.” This information was not reported in the U.S. news media at the time.
However the National Report using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) obtained a copy of a 1960 letter from the National Archives. The letter was written by Fred Singer, then science advisor to U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Singer confirms the U.S. knew of the Russian scientists reports and confirmed observing the course changes but Singer cautioned the president about the methods used by the Russians in their conclusion that Phobos could be of artificial origin.
As of this morning there is no mention in Russian or American media about ISON changing course, but according to our Russian source who works in the Russian space industry the comet changed course today shortly after 1 am or 11 am PST here. A second course change occurred at 2:49 am Russian time, or 12:49 pm here.
Our source claims the unexpected orbital adjustments made today has altered ISON’s original trajectory bringing it much closer to Earth on 26 December 2013, than the safe 0.426 A.U., or 63 million + kilometers originally estimated by U.S. scientist.
I contacted retired NASA astronomer David Gould, 68, of Santa Barbara, CA., and asked him to summarize in simple English what the latest reports from Russia indicate. Gould confirmed a comet passing Earth at 63 million + kilometers would be very bright and easily visible to the naked eye but posed no threat to Earth.
When asked about the multiple reported course changes ISON has made Gould replied, “That sounds like your information is wrong the comet itself is incapable of making orbital adjustments or somehow change its course.” I asked if ISON where to collide with another object in space could that alter its course? He said, “That’s highly unlikely, I don’t know the actual size of the comet but as I recall ISON is pretty large. So it would have to impact something much larger to effect its course.”
Asking if there were any other conditions such as the sun’s gravitational pull that could cause the comet to change course, Gould replied. ‘In space… perhaps, but scientist will compensate mathematically for any known factors such as gravitational pull. The only way a comet could behave as you’ve described is if it’s under some kind of intelligent control, but I don’t go in much for the UFO theories.”
To sum up, the Russians, it seems are monitoring course alterations in Comet C/2012 S1 ISON’s path and in the past 29 days report several unexpected orbital adjustments. The strange behavior that’s being documented for nearly a month now according to retired astronomer David Gould, cannot occur. And as usual the U.S. government and media are silent.
We will do our best to stay current on this story as details are made available and bring the information to our readers.
